Well that was a close race (votes, not the cars or the Mustang would have killed the RX-8) I too love the look of the RX-8 but it is too slow. I thought the some what rare IRS Mustang might take it. Anyway. Are you ready for some Porsches? In this corner 2000 Porsche Boxster View attachment 8395 OR (the opponent) 1983 Porsche 944 View attachment 8396 Fight :cornut: (Before you ask. I could find a 944 turbo under $10k)
2000 Porsche Boxster because its a great beach car beater. The 944 is the same car as the Porsche in the movie "16 Candles" Ugh rrr:
One more thing to consider about the Boxster over the 944 (Age and repairs) 15 year old, still modern built car with reasonable parts available and it more reliable. Or the 32 year old PITA to work on and find parts for 944.
So you watched 16 Candles to the end?:lol::lol::lol: [ame="http://youtu.be/Fjh3TxOHCxE"]http://youtu.be/Fjh3TxOHCxE[/ame]
Now there's a great cool beater fight. Having owned... 1) a POS 924 (the predecessor to the 944) when I was a snot-nosed 19 year-old superstar, bought for $1200 ($200 borrowed from my roomate because I HAD to have it), It looked like an orangutan and ran like a penguin, but I drove a frickin' PORSH, dude, a PORSCH. Everybody hated me: Porsche nerds cause I had the worst example of the worst Porsche ever, and every other civilian, because who the f did I think I was driving a PORCH. 2) a Boxster when I was in my mid 40s, a dried out, used up carcass of a human being with not the fleetingest hope of ever approaching cool, smelling of corpse and despair. It was great! Fun to drive to the beach, with just enough Porsche personality. Everybody hated me: I was driving a girl PORSCH. But when you're in your mid 40s, you don't give a F what people think. ...I'm uniquely qualified to vote for the Boxster, in a narrow victory because of the fun-to-drive factor.
I had a 77 924, an orangy red color. The girls loved it but my wallet didn't. If the 944 is anything like a 924.....I vote Boxter.
Did some say Cayman! I go with the 944 since they make a good or great track car, if you set them up right.
I have to go with the 944, based solely on styling/aesthetic value. I have not owned nor driven either, so I don't fit the proper qualifications for a worthy vote off knowledge of the vehicle. But with a serious love for long nose, short tailed cars (240z, 350/370z, FR-S/BRZ, 599 GTO, 2000GT, etc etc etc), I have to go with the 944.
