Unbelievable comeback for the Beetle. The last post sealed the 1-vote victory for the VW. The Focus sailed over the GLHS, and the FiST narrowly defeated the 250. I'm still shocked that the Bubble (as the call them in Sweden) beat the R5. Today's match-ups will actually be calculated on Friday, since PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the accounting firm responsible for the tabulation is closed tomorrow. This round will probably have fewer surprises if my seeding is correct. Some of the models that are in the bracket are not year or trim specific. If this is the case, assume it's the most desirable version of that car, whatever that means to you.
Here are the matchups:
2014 Porsche 911 Turbo vs. FoST
Audi R8 vs. 1988 BMW M5
Mercedes SLS vs. Land Rover Defender 110
Lamborghini Hurracan vs. Honda S2000 -

As predicted, the higher seeds did win. The only close matchup was the SLS versus the Defender 110, which was determined by one vote. I was surprised that the Honda S2000 only got one vote versus the Hurracan. Remember, you can't turn around and sell the car in our game, so you are stuck with your pick as your only daily driver. I would have voted for the S2000: My fear is that I'd look like Steve Martin from The Jerk in a Lambo.
Today's match-ups are more high-seeds versus low seeds. I'm running around a little today so there'll be no snappy graphic with the car images. That's what Google image search is for, if you need a visual primer. Here they are:
Bugatti Veyron vs. 1967 Pontiac GTO
1964 Ferrari GTO vs. Original Shelby Cobra <----Damn!
2006 BMW M3 vs. 1966 Sunbeam Tiger
2015 Jaguar F-Type Project 7 vs. 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe.
Vote away. A couple of tough ones up there... -
1967 Pontiac GTO. I could not afford to keep the Veyron running.
Shelby Cobra. Tough choice but the Cobra would be a great open roof back road driver.
2006 BMW M3. Great daily driver but still very fun for Auto-X or Track Day.
1963 Corvette. Another tough choice but the Corvette would be great for cruise nights. -

Bugatti: because I would deliver pizzas in that...
Ferrari: because classic Ferraris are more appealing to me than anything that has ever came out of Detroit...
M3: because if I am driving anything without a roof, the doors better be gone too!
Split window: see above, also would serve as a winter beater....
