But Santa gave me a tracking number and estimated delivery date...
I'm with ya though, if that were my only 2 choices, VAG wouldn't be getting my money this time.

I'd take the GP, mod the hell out of it, and have more fun on the track with it than I ever could with a 996. It's the car I wish I would have bought.
Pass someone in a 996? No big deal. Pass someone in a MINI, much, much more satisfying-

Yes there are those who buy a car to look cool, every brand has them. Seems like lots of Porsche folks are that way & BMW folks can fit that mold. Heck even some MINI folks too. Of course not all owners are that way, some are damned nice folks too. We should take time to meet them & enjoy their enthusiasm for their particular brand.
The guys who buy a car & squirrel it away in the garage as a shrine to their own coolness only to be used on those rare sacred occasions, well that ain't cool & neither are they.
I'd love to borrow my friends 996 & crash a sacred Porsche gathering. Those who know me will understand how funny that would be, me hob nobbing with the self proclaimed cool ones.-

I chose the MINI, because if it is the only car I can have, it is a more practical choice for my lifestyle and where I live...
Can you even fit a sleeping bag in a 996?
How's that Porsche going to treat me after it dumps 6" of snow after a 70 degree day?
Is it really small enough to justify driving an $80K car to TacoHell?
Now if the toss up was between a GP-1 and a Cayenne Turbo S...
That Porsche might be able to live with me.-

LoL... Although I would like to have a classic mini, the GP-1 or even just an R50 would be better suited for a DD, thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

Yea I live in the south AC IS A MUST. I remember when I was 16 I cut the AC belt off my 69 Mustang I didn't want it to rob any horse power. I don't remember the heat bothering me.
I guess it's because now when I think back all I remember is those sweet summer nights hanging out with my girlfriend in a big parking lot across from Racing Head Servecies. An occasional race down the street. But at midnight when they cut the lights out in the parking lot that when the guys with big blowers and raceing slicks showed up.-

Those Tesla's are everywhere around here, I probably see 1-2 of them per day... The GP not so much, and I like different!

Not totally sold on electric. Not a good choice except for a daily runner... We don't have the charging facilities to support the technology. When they do build them, I don't have enough time to waste on a 2-4 hour layover in BFE to recharge the dang thing. Fossil fuel burner for now here.

I think you would see a different result if done March Madness bracket style. I wonder how the GP1 would stand against some of the previous winners or how it would match up against a bracket full of like cars (older WRX/STI, Evo, SI...etc.). Maybe even throw in hot hatches not available here.
