    Boy...you are making this tough!!
Hate to say it...but in keeping an open mind and since the $$$ does not matter, the Porsche is a better, more comfortable car, with more perfotmance, and similar usability in daily use IMO....so as much as I love MINI, I must say Porsche.
While I love mini, I must keep in mind, it is just a premium small car that is sporty...sure the gp is awesome for the $$, it is still a hot rodded small car, not a full on sports car....yes heresy, but true.

GP for me. The MINI isn't the fastest car, or even the best handling, but it's got some spark that made me fall in love with it. The 996 comes in very close in the fun to drive category.

GP1 for me - Porsche is great but I can't deal with the 996 - 993 or 997 would be definitely Porsche.

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle: we have a dead heat! I'm going to let this ride for a few hours and see if there's a tie-breaker or two still left in the crowd...

Amazing to me that on a MINI forum a GP-1 isn't running away with this.

I am not amazed at this. Seems to me there are many here that love all great cars. Yes it is a MINI forum, but seems to me most folks here are car guys with many different likes & wants. Yes there are those with I heart MINI tattoos & MINI lifetime fluids coursing through their veins, but I think they are the minority.

The MINI is a sweet flavor, but there are so many other sweet flavors out there in this big wide automotive world. I'd love to taste a few more myself. This doesn't mean I don't really like my MINI, I truly do.

Speaking for only myself the new MINI Kool-Aide has a bitter taste. Too much F56 & SUV in there for me.

Hey Dave F56 content, have fun. :)

I have no problem with MINI making a small sporty SUV/crossover however, what they are doing with the F56/55/and whatever other variants they can come up with sharing the ugliness of the euro "excuse" crash standards is a big turn off.

I love my R60 as much as my R53, but for the life of me I cant stand the look of any of the F-cars. Some of the renderings of the second gen Countryman look good enough for me to keep with the brand a while longer though. :)

I wasn't dissing on other brands, I too am a car guy. I just posted that I thought it was amazing that the GP-1 wasn't winning by a great margin, especially with the R53 love that most of us have ( me included). There are a lot of cars I would like to have in my garage....a GP-1 is surely one of those.

If I had to pick the MINI I like best it would be a GP-1 for sure. Given the choice offered it lost. Yes I know you are a car guy as many here are. :)

Does that make them a bunch of P…. on sorry that almost slipped out.

    You bunch of traders!:lol::lol::lol:

Its not that I don't like those P cars. But its the people that drive them that make me not like that brand. Not all so don't get your panties in a wad. Its just I have had my fill of people that buy a car just to be cool. Porscheee seems to have more than any other brand. Yuppies yuck!!!!!!
In the 80's I worked at a independent shop that I think every Porsche owning yuppie came to. Its like when your a kid and eat too much of your favorite candy and through it up. After that you just can't stand that candy any more.:D

Yes there are those who buy a car to look cool, every brand has them. Seems like lots of Porsche folks are that way & BMW folks can fit that mold. Heck even some MINI folks too. Of course not all owners are that way, some are damned nice folks too. We should take time to meet them & enjoy their enthusiasm for their particular brand.

The guys who buy a car & squirrel it away in the garage as a shrine to their own coolness only to be used on those rare sacred occasions, well that ain't cool & neither are they.

I'd love to borrow my friends 996 & crash a sacred Porsche gathering. Those who know me will understand how funny that would be, me hob nobbing with the self proclaimed cool ones.
