I'll have you neophytes know I owned a Yugo! I payed $750 for it and it looked like new. I sold it a year or two later for $750. It ran like a top the hole time, never let me down! Of course I never drove to far from home. :blush2:
Oh my, am I relieved to hear you drove that. I drove a '72 Vega GT in High School. I don't think about it much, but I loved it.
Ok I may be wrong but this looks like someone is showing it off at a Saturday morning get together... would have never been on my list of cars to see at a C&C.
Unbelievable comeback for the Beetle. The last post sealed the 1-vote victory for the VW. The Focus sailed over the GLHS, and the FiST narrowly defeated the 250. I'm still shocked that the Bubble (as the call them in Sweden) beat the R5. Today's match-ups will actually be calculated on Friday, since PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the accounting firm responsible for the tabulation is closed tomorrow. This round will probably have fewer surprises if my seeding is correct. Some of the models that are in the bracket are not year or trim specific. If this is the case, assume it's the most desirable version of that car, whatever that means to you. Here are the matchups: 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo vs. FoST Audi R8 vs. 1988 BMW M5 Mercedes SLS vs. Land Rover Defender 110 Lamborghini Hurracan vs. Honda S2000
I heard that the fiat 500L is made in the old Yugo plant ...think it was said on motor week...not sure it is 100% correct, but the quality fit+finish and panel gaps on the 500L was said to live up to the plants "historical" standards if I recall right....made me wish I had it recorded on the DVR just to laugh like heck!! For some the "worst" cars around are the best,1) cause you own them, 2) you got lucky... When I see threads about folks saying they spent $12,000 in repairs in 3 years on a MINI I wonder how the mini will be looked back upon....
Back in the middle 90's, there was a Yugo with a lift kit, monster truck style, that was in the Hartford CT area that a guy was using as a daily driver....was pretty interesting looking!!
I don't think that's true because our country "accidentally" bombed the Yugo plant when we were "helping" In siege of Sarajevo Yugoslavia. It was just our special way of saying we hate that car or oops collateral damage, "our Bad" :ihih::lol:
As predicted, the higher seeds did win. The only close matchup was the SLS versus the Defender 110, which was determined by one vote. I was surprised that the Honda S2000 only got one vote versus the Hurracan. Remember, you can't turn around and sell the car in our game, so you are stuck with your pick as your only daily driver. I would have voted for the S2000: My fear is that I'd look like Steve Martin from The Jerk in a Lambo. Today's match-ups are more high-seeds versus low seeds. I'm running around a little today so there'll be no snappy graphic with the car images. That's what Google image search is for, if you need a visual primer. Here they are: Bugatti Veyron vs. 1967 Pontiac GTO 1964 Ferrari GTO vs. Original Shelby Cobra <----Damn! 2006 BMW M3 vs. 1966 Sunbeam Tiger 2015 Jaguar F-Type Project 7 vs. 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe. Vote away. A couple of tough ones up there...
