The Singer 911 as it the perfect daily driver of the two left as it rides off into the sunset winning this contest.
The fix would be in the Ferrari every day. You'd have to hire a whole herd of Tony's & Guido's to keep it running in a daily driver role. It will look great parked in the drive with the hood up. I'll wave as I blast by in my peoples car.
Yes I did because I don't want a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT as a daily driver and those are the rules. If you read about the 911 Singer it is a hand built car with the best of everything Porsche offers across many years. Plus I could drive the Singer daily and do this if I wanted too. :eek6: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HZ2eKj9N1Y"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HZ2eKj9N1Y[/ame]
I don know. Back in the 80's when I worked on Fiats, Lancia and Alfas you just can't belive the crap other shops and people would do to their cars then blame it in the car. It was not uncommon for us to get cars that would run hot because of an air bubble. They would go to a service station and the morons would hot wire the fan. They thought it should run all the time. So a cheep fix now caust some money. Later the shop was sold and the owner went to work for a dealer that sold Maserati and several other brands. He asked me to come work there. They had had one Masereti mechanic that quit. It turns out he was putting silicone on rubber gaskets and tinghting the snot out of them. Every car leaked like a sieve. Everyone at the dealer was bad mouthing the cars because of this idiot! Once all this was undone they had very little problems.
Singer is it. It's not really a surprise. Such a stunning car, with 95% of the sex appeal of Ferraris like the 250, but completely usable. The body is galvanized and weatherproof, the motor is reliable with electronic engine management, and the performance is more than adequate for almost any occasion. What's more amazing about the company is its founder. If you haven't picked up on it, the reason the company is called Singer is that its founder, Rob Dickinson is the former lead singer for Catharine Wheel, a successful British indie rock band from the 90s. He still maintains a robust solo career, and recently signed a new record deal. More people know of Dickinson for his music than his car company. So, what do you think, ultimate car tuner by day, rock star by night. We can safely say the Dickinson is living the dream. Well that ends it. The people have spoken. The money-no-object fantasy car that probably none of us will ever have is the Singer 911. Maybe a better contest would have been the ultimate fantasy car under $20k, but I guess that what the rest of this forum is about.
I love both the finalists, but the usability is what swayed my vote to the Singer 911. Hey now wait a minute Eric, it's not quite over. I'm sure in the rules it said all of us who picked the winner would be receiving our very own Singer 911. Do I have to come to Philly & pick mine up or can you bring it to the Dragon?
Singer 911 The Ferrari would sound so nice but for every day driving and track fun, the 911 has to get my vote.
I found the same thing, nobody seemed to understand a closed cooling system. Allowed me to get a great deal on a R16 Renault.
