My Mini is wearing General Altimax shoes and drove great in today's snowfall. It's unbelievable how well this car gets around in the snow!

I got a set of DWS slightly used for $36 each installed. They are better but they are not snow tires. But then I've only taken the MINI out 3 times in the last 2 weeks.

I noticed something very strange with these wheels on, torque steer. With the Hayame 18" I only noticed it in really tight turns with lots of throttle. If I'm reading the research right it has to do with a difference in off set.

Offset can have a big influence in handling & feel. There is a reason the factory chooses the offset on the oem wheels. Some cars are more sensitive to changes in offset than others. My snow shoes are on oem Holies & I'm not feeling torque steer. That being said my fair weather wheels are not oem offset & yes there is some torque steer, but it's a front driver with a few ponies. I just hang on with both hands & point it in the direction I want to go. :D

^^^^ Just grad the wheel with both hands drop it in gear and HAMMER IT. The Car will go where you point it like a bat out of hell.

I have a set of Blizzak LM-60's on my S. It's amazing how well they handle the snow. Best snows I've ever had on any car....

The Continental Extreme Winter Contacts were great on the Clubman in the 3-4 inches of snow we got the the other day.

Tomorrow will be the real acid test in the 8-12 inches we are getting overnight.:cool:

Mark if you ever drive on dedicated winter tires you are never going to be happy with all seasons again. Me thinks it may be your skills rather than your tires working for you. :)

Have Blizzaks fitted to my Cooper 15" rims. Great tires, snow is no problem (unless it is too deep, and jacks the M1N1 off the ground!!!!!!!).
