Dani Sordo will be driving ProDrive's S2000 spec version of their MINI Countryman rally car in the Corsica round of the IRC 9-12 May. iRally visited ProDrive to learn about the S2000 program but dug into a lot more in the process.

This video includes a great trio of interviews with some very smart folks from ProDrive. It's a full hour in total but it's mostly static video like a radio interview so you can just listen while doing other things. If you're interested in the WRC it's probably worth your time, but here's a synopsis so you can click through a bit if you like.

After a couple minutes of fairly useless intro material (jump to about 2:25) the first interview starts with David Lapworth, ProDrive Technical Director. He talks about everything from the past and differences between drivers like Colin McRae and Jari-Mati Latvala, about the IRC, about local/domestic/national vs regional vs global championships, the differences between their WRC and S2000 cars and between their S2000 car and others they will run against outside the WRC, the current state of WRC, what's good about it, what might improve it, Kris Meeke, what makes Loeb so good, Dani driving for Ford in Argentina, ETC!

At about 38:25 Steve Smith talks about the customer car side of ProDrive's business, how it works, etc.

From around 49 minutes to the end Richard Taylor, Business Development Director, discusses ProDrive's relationship with MINI and talks about the challenge in finding partners, sponsors, investors, given everything from competition with the Olympics to the WRC's promoter issues, the true cost of running a full WRC season, etc.
