To tell the truth, as much as I enjoy this stuff I think I'd rather watch coverage of the coming Monte Carlo Historique. In addition to the five Renault Alpine A110s there are a total of 314 (!!!) historic rally cars entered, including 10 Minis! If I can find video and other coverage, I'll start a thread. Me thinks you've stumbled onto Speeds tape delayed coverage of the Monte. Keep up the good work friend!
No sound for about 35sec, good stuff after. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYVLGpzKrqc]81º Rallye Montecarlo 2013 HD Pure Sounds - YouTube[/ame]
Full marks to VW - those Polos sound good, with both rasp and twitter. After one of the Quatar Fords went into and out of the ditch on that tricky bend, did he or his team-mate then intentionally put two wheels off the road into the verge in order to slow down quicker than he would on the ice? It looked intentional to me, like a good braking technique - I only mention this as it's one of the few snow tricks I've learnt.
It's a good trick for sure, if your notes show you can do that. Otherwise it is a gamble that could bite you.

Not from 2013 obviously but here's Paddy Hopkirk in the famous 33EJB #37 on the Turini in the 1964 Monte. Imagine realizing you'd lost to that little thing!
Then you don't want to think about British circuit racing in the 1960s: Or time for this one again? [ame=http://youtu.be/HxMNKXgiN68]Mini Cooper S Racing Against Huge 7ltr Ford Galaxie 500. Goodwood Revival. - YouTube[/ame] I think the Mini and the Galaxie must be doing identical lap times, as each lap they are in the same relative positions.
You can bet they didn't cancel any stages because they were too snowy back then. Imagine how folks felt in 63 & 64 when they were beaten by 2 stoke SAAB's driven by erik carlsson.
