+1. It's worth it as a factory option, but I'd get something better if you are putting one in. I'm probably replacing my factory one with OS Gilkien this winter.
If you are going to the trouble to pull the tranny crack it open & swap in an LSD I'd recommend going with something better than an oem especially a used one. If you want oem I've read that the LSD used in a Focust SVT is the same as MINI used.
I have an LSD & while it is great it doesn't have a very aggressive lock up. For $500 it was a real deal.
It all depends on price. I've seen used OEMs for $300-400. The SVT Torsen diff is around $800. Rebuilt (or built correctly) OBX is $500-$600. Gilien and Quafe are over a grand.

Sure, if it works for you. I'm in the process of deciding between one of two options, and the most likely one is sending my car to Irvine for Jan/Colin to go medeival on it (the other is selling it and doing something a little different in the MINI world, but there are a number of factors involved in that and it's more likely I'll mod what I have). I should know in early Novemeber which route I'm going, and if it ends up modding the current car further, it'll probably be sent to California early December, and as soon as they can get going on it the diff is available. It is the factory diff, 26,000 miles on the car (2006 R53). If you've seen them at 3-4 hundred, I'll take the lower number if that works.
