Ah, the precision engineering I've come to expect from North Korea. It's no wonder one of their subs sank.

I'm a bit of a DPRK junkie: I've read quite a few books as well as US Government assessments of the reclusive oligarchy. Contrary to conventional wisdom, the Kim dynasty isn't the product of a string of psychotic despots, but actually the product of quasi-rational despots. They have been relatively clever in containing US influence on the peninsula by nurturing the rivalry of it's two historic patron states: China and Russia (USSR). Under Kim 1 and Kim 2, most experts didn't consider the DPRK a credible threat for all-out preemptive warfare post-1950s armistice. Kim 3 is another story, and is becoming the source of more hand-wringing. The bottom line is that the DPRK is a freak show of totalitarian government which my conservative friends can point to as proof that big government is a terrible idea. Fear not, liberal friends, you're not out in the cold: you can point to our slate of presidential candidates as proof that unregulated, laissez-faire capitalism has it's problems, too.
