My girlfriend at the time named my MINI "The Mistress" because I spent more time with it than her for the first few years.
She still ended up my wife after a lots off mods a few years later.

My MINIs name: DamnMINI
Story: Had just spent the 5 straight day repairing something on the car, and while on the phone with my dad a few choices words started coming out about the car. Since then "DamnMINI" has stuck, and surprising the car has been much better behaved... I think it just wanted an official name, and it acted out until it got it.-

Name: GTiki
Story: I am a Jimmy Buffett Parrothead and an avid beach and tiki bar fan. I was thinking about TikiCar, playing off of Tiki Bar, but figured the PoPo would enjoy pulling me over WAY too much with that one. I love GT and sportscar racing and ended up with GT and Tiki combined. Fast little party on wheels.-

The origin of GNAT
Way back in the early 80's I would visit some friends attending the local college fairly often. One had to sign in at the front desk of the dorm. One of said friends worked the desk and soon tired of trying to write my full name in the very small block provided on the sign in sheets. He started writing gnat fberg. One drunken eve the story of why gnat was revealed. One has to realize that at that time in my early 20's I was quite the obnoxious cur. From that, my "small" stature and that Nat is sometimes slang for Nathan we had gnat.
When the interwebs started I took on gnatster as my long term nic most places.
It just makes sense for the MINI too...it's quite small and buzzes around.-

My current MINI which is the second one I have been the primary driver of and the third MINI that we have owned got its name based on why I purchased it. We had decided that our middle daughter would purchase (for a reduced price) my 04 Cooper to help establish credit which left me without a car. Having just made the rank of Master Chief in the Navy we went to look for a replacement. I tried several cars that day and finally found that the "S" was a blast to drive and that one of them was going home with me. Needless to say the "Master Blaster" was born. Now with 29 years in the Navy I find myself hanging with a great group of friends in MidCal MINI's or over in the the Military Veterans in the Social Group area.

My first MINI, an '06 MCS was PW with black roof. I tried for weeks to come up with a name before I actually had picked him up. The night I got home with him we were all standing around gazing in wide wonder at the miracle in our garage and my son commented that it looked like the horse in that cartoon I used to love. El Kabong was christened that night and was the perfect mix of funny and superhero.
My new '11 MCS is named GoKart Mozart, from the song "Blinded by the Light", we call him Mozart for short. It seemed a fitting name for a Horizon Blue for some reason.

Wow.... Sailor Moon.... Does that bring back memories. That was my daughter's favorite.... She made her own handmade Sailor Moon outfit for Halloween.
So mine's Fungo Squiggly.... A takeoff of the gokart handling "it's fun to go squiggly"...-

My previous MINI, a 2009 Clubman S, got his name as a result of a FB poll/contest. I had been badgered / threatened to name my car so I decided to let FB name it. The name 'Nigel' was the winner (and most-suggested). I referred to my MINI as 'my MINI' but others called him Nigel.
When I traded the Clubman S in for a Clubman JCW, the name transferred over.
My wife's 2011 cabrio is named Fassbender, shortened to Bender. Fassbender is German for 'barrel maker' (literally). The trade name for those who make casks, barrels, etc is 'cooper'. Pretty crafty :ihih:-

Sooner or later, I have named about every car I have owned. MINIs beg for names, IMHO, but I let them come to me. When I ordered my MCS Coupé, I did a lot of thinking about names, and nothing I came up with really grabbed me.
One of my Sunshine MINIs friends suggested "Secret Squirrel," since I had kept my Coupé purchase a secret for 2+ months until I could reveal it in person at a local meet. I liked that idea, but immediately took a tangent to a name that I thought fit perfectly: Rocky the Flying Squirrel.
Why is this perfect? Well, he's got a helmet, a tail, and a penchant for what feels like aerobatic maneuvers.
Kinda makes me wanna name my '92 Supra "Bullwinkle."-

We just bought our 2012 BRG Hardtop about 6 weeks ago. Our Salesman told us we needed to name our prize and we thought, "oh, Yeah". But then we read a few posts here and other sites and saw that people "did" name theirs. So, since ours is British Racing Green, we named ours "Grasshopper"! Love it!

Being a long time Vonnegut fan I've always used the phrase "so it goes" as a catchall for most anything. Kind of a polite version of S**t happens.
When I got my Clubman and was trying to come up with a name/plate, that was the one that stuck - modified slightly to SOITGOZ - and since its a JCW it GOZ!-

MINImowse
Quite a few years ago, OK decades, a very good friend of mine had just finished UC Davis and moved to Southern California to take a job as an aeronautical engineer. Friday nights the group would get together to kick off the weekend and on one of my visits to LA, I joined in. I quickly discovered that no one used their "given" names and they simply would not accept my "real name". They insisted that I had to have a nickname too. The names that they were trying to saddle me with were horrific. (I often wondered if they really worked for the CIA and they were masking their identities; I mean they did build the Stealth after all). We grabbed the newly published "Preppy Handbook" and flipped through the pages. It was decided that I would be dubbed Kiki. The name stuck.
Not long after, just as AOL was coming out (yes there was a time before the INTERNET) I needed to select a screen name. I am an avid (or is that rabid) Disneyland fan and have a passion for Mickey Mouse. I decided that my screen name would be Kikimouse. Alas the name on AOL was taken by Kikimouse 1 through 33. I was not about to be Kikimouse34 so I typed in Kikimowse (mouse with a “w”) and, as they say, the rest is history
When I adopted my 2007 MINI Cabrio, I originally thought that “it” was a boy. All of my other cars had been boys. No matter how hard I tried, I just could not find a name that fit or felt right. Any of the names that I tried just seemed wrong. A few months later my sister adopted a 2008 coop. When my 2007 cabrio was parked next to her 2008 coop, I knew immediately that my MINI was a girl and her name was MINImowse. Just as numerous other MINI owners had assured me, the name would come to me and I would just know it was the right one. I even had a special European plate made for her.
