Broken Smurf After owning my MINI for almost 2 years I still had no name for it I actually thought this up with the help of a friend. Being that my MINI is blue and white I always saw it as a smurf I could never figure out which one. Because it seems my car is always going under the wrench for some repair/mod my friend said why not name it Broken Smurf? I decided that the name fits well. After I get my car back from the shop (yep its broken again lol) It will be wearing a new name tag that says BROKNSMURF (euro front plate)
MINI May An ode to one of my favorite manga characters Minnie May of Gunsmith Cats. She's spunky and slightly disobedient, so it fits well. Thought about naming her Tardis due to being Hyper Metallic Blue, and MINIs being so much bigger on the inside, but to me that's a very male name, and she's definitely a she to me. Also thought about Sparky, also because of the color. Lots of fond memories of playing Mario Kart Double Dash drunk in college, and shouting out "BLUE SPARKS!!!" when hitting the apex of the curves just right. Fitting due to the go-kart handling.
We just bought our 2012 BRG Hardtop about 6 weeks ago. Our Salesman told us we needed to name our prize and we thought, "oh, Yeah". But then we read a few posts here and other sites and saw that people "did" name theirs. So, since ours is British Racing Green, we named ours "Grasshopper"! Love it!
Being a long time Vonnegut fan I've always used the phrase "so it goes" as a catchall for most anything. Kind of a polite version of S**t happens. When I got my Clubman and was trying to come up with a name/plate, that was the one that stuck - modified slightly to SOITGOZ - and since its a JCW it GOZ!
Our MINI has taken us places we would never have otherwise gone. On one such motoring adventure we heard it's name spoken and the rest, as they say, is a more expensive license plate.
Edge Case? Too many names. . . I have gone through 3 names that I can remember for my Metallic Hot Chocolate Fun-mobile: Tootsie - too girly :blush2: Cocoa - too boring :arf: Cadbury - almost stuck (had the chocolate tie-in) but WAY to refined for the JCW kit under the bonnet  Lastly, and I promise not to change it again unless I hear something from Warner Bros.: TasMINIan DeVille or just "Taz" or "Devil" or "TD" :cornet: - the car actually looks like him! And I like the speed connotation -- cuz its freakin fast! I just hope it never starts sounding like him :eek6:.
:cornut: 'Mini' Margi was named after my lovely wife Lady Margi. When I first named her after my wife, my wife says," So who am I, Big Margi?" One of those questions that almost any answer is WRONG. But thinking quickly I said,"Why no, you're 'Lady' Margi." Jason
Not about MINIs, but my dad had a parrot that he named Stanley, after his brother, because he squawks and shits! Dave
RYU is for many reasons..... First: Ryu means dragon in Japanese. 1. He's green, so are dragons. 2. Hello Kitty is Japanese, so I thought she'd like a friend :biggrin5: 3. It's the year of the dragon, and I just got him. 4. I have a dragon tattoo. 5. it's MOTD 10 this year, and I associate MINIs with the dragon
GREYLENZ I'm GreyLens and the car is GREYLENZ. The Grey Lensmen were the main characters in one of the earliest science fiction stories written. The books were authored by "Doc" E. E. Smith...the first one published in 1934. Many/most of the cool ideas in Star Wars, Star Trek and many other scifi sagas originated with Doc Smith's books. I figure if a Gray Lensman was assigned a mission on present day earth he would select a MINI JCW in silver with minimal exterior accoutrement and beef it up a bit to address any need for high speed street driving.
Sprout! I'd never named a car before, but since it appears to be the done thing with Minis, I started thinking about it. (Sprout is my first Mini adventure.) My son suggested Winston, but that didn't feel quite right. Then I remembered the old Jolly Green Giant frozen veggie ads. Sprout is little, green, cute, and spunky, just like the Giant's side-kick. :biggrin5:
Mine is Mico (obviously short for Mini Cooper), which started as a placeholder name until I came up with something better. But it's kind of stuck for some reason. I guess I'm not as creative as I used to be.
