I'd imagine that as speed increases, the % error in the speedometer gets worse and worse. So any figures I can give would be way off, since I don't have my GPS in the car all of the time.
Ha... I got stuck behind an MCS in my second session at MINI vs. Porsche, too. It was worth it, though, because once he waved me past I had wide open track for a couple laps because he had backed us off the pack so much. I'm thinking the point of the pace cars was to keep people from doing 4-wheel slides after cresting the hill going into the Esses. Misson Failed. Speaking of MINI vs. Porsche, I talked to Trudy Hardy recently (Head of MINI Marketing... met her at MINI vs. Porsche), and suggested more MINI-sponsored track days. She said they were looking for more such track opportunities. Sounds good to me! Anyway, back to the original question... I've done ~100-110 at Road Atlanta and Sebring. Like goaljnky, I don't know exactly because by the time I reach max speed at the end of the straight, I'm more worried about braking and turning.
Bone stock with the top down I saw an indicated 110 on the speedo. That's it. Brick wall, couldn't pass it no matter what. Almost made me think there was a speed limiter on the car. Afterwards? I've seen 140 on the big dial, with the top down. No GPS either time though.
120 on the back straight at RA, 115 on the back straight at VIR. Never bothered to shift into 6th gear at VIR... someday. Also hit 120 on the way to VIR, uphill, at redline in 5th. Car isn't happy over 115, just doesn't seem to hunker down.
 120+ where I shouldn't, of course cct1, when we get your exhaust and aero package on you will not be squirrrrelllly, just ask Ian Stewart, RMW, Chili-Pa or any other Group4 customers Mark
Hey Nathan, this is as fast as anyone has gone in a MINI... How about another thread for top speed in any car? That number is considerably higher for me...
150mph via GPS confirmation. Speedo was showing a little higher as I have moved the needle a bit to be more accurate, but it's still off at top speed. Wasn't until I fitted the flat bottom, smoothed the roof and put the GP spoiler on that I could do that speed.
125mph at Texas World Speedway, measured by my data logger. I think the speedo was reading somewhere in the mid 130's.
:arf::crazy::incazzato:rrr: "speed limiter in effect"---go ahead brag, make us stock MINIs feel bad  Mark
142mph on the speedo. So if the rule about the R56 speedo reading 5% higher is in effect, that's really about 135mph.
I turned my GPS on while flying somewhere a couple of years ago, so the average trip speed was pushing 400 MPH till I reset it Mark
