When you went out for the evening and you checked to make sure you had at least one dime in your pocket to make a telephone call.

Also, your neighbor's Mom had license to wash your mouth out with soap or whup you if you misbehaved. Then, you got another one when you got home because you embarrassed your Mom by acting up at your friends house.

Ok side note. Remember the environmentalist wanted plastic so it could be reused? Now instead of biodegradable paper in landfills we have billions of plastic bags. That worked well:frown2:

    Oh yea paper is renewable.

I used to play poop golf in the Winter with my older bothers clubs.:lol:

I was Bill Murray in Caddie Shack. "It's in the hole"

In the winter the poop from our large Irish setter would be frozen and I would practice wedge shots buy hitting poop over the fence into the next yard.

Emptying the glass bowl fuel filter on Dad's '47 Chevy. Then draining and changing the oil in the air cleaner. Not to mention the three on the tree vacuum shifter. And vacuum operated wipers that speed up when you let off the gas and slow down when you floor it! On the up side, you could hot-wire it with the foil from a cigarette pack or a stick of gum. But, if you do that, make sure it has enough gas for your joyride because you can't hot-wire those pesky locking gas caps! I gots first hand knowledge of that. Doubly embarrassing when your Dad's a cop and you "stole" his car from the Police Station parking lot.

There were many TV shows mentioned but I can't believe no one mention Route 66. My personal favorite western was Have Gun Will Travel.

There used to be lots of good westerns. Wanted Dead or Alive, The Rebel, Cheyenne, and don't forget the brothers Maverick or Sergeant Preston of the Yukon. I can remember listening to The Cisco Kid and The Lone Ranger on the radio. Damn! I AM old!

Yer not as old and decrepit as you think you are if you can remember a whole bunch of this trivia.

You are, however, that danged old if you can remember some of this trivia but not what you had for supper last night.

    Encyclopedia salesmen.
We had a set back in the 50's, mostly looked at the pictures and never, ever used them for their intended purpose. The tradition lingers on in the studious neglect of instruction manuals

When RADIO SHACK had the "tube tester" board that you would test all the vacume tubes you unplugged from the WOODEN FLOOR MODEL TV in the living room, and test...so you could order the new one to replace the failed one...
Thought it was odd buying a new vacume tube during the cold war, and having it say "made in cccp" aka USSR.....remember that part vividly in the waning days of tube TV's...
