I remember the horse drawn ice wagon that came around selling blocks of ice for our "ice box". Always a gang of us kids around it begging for a sliver of ice.

We lived three miles north of the Detroit City limits and when my dad went hunting (pheasant, squirrel, rabbit) he clicked the safety off on his shot gun when he walked out of the house because he was there. :smile5:

In the People's Republic of Austin, they banned paper bags under the 'plastic bag ban' too... except for dry cleaning and newspaper plastic bags. I don't shop there if I can help it.

And you are old as dirt if you remember Postum.

Is it strange that my biggest concern regarding the plastic bag issue is figuring out what I'm going to use to pick up poo from two 90+ lb dogs in my back yard once I run out of my stash?

I work in Davis and they just banned plastic bags here. I always forget my reusable bag when I go shopping on my lunch hour and they never ask me if I want to buy a paper bag for a dime...so I end up with my loose goods rolling around in the back of my car. Time to just start keeping a few reusable bags in the hatch... :)

You've gotta make sure you've got grass or prunings in the bottom first, then seal up the stench with some more grass.....

Get yourselves a small aluminum scoop shovel. They work wonders on those land mines!

I live on a peninsula of private land surrounded by a 700 acre wildlife sanctuary, there are woods all around my neighborhood. When the vet asks me to bring a stool sample, for the dog's annual check up, I have to tell her that I don't know where the dog poops. All the neighborhood dogs are kind of free range dogs and they all poop in the woods, I never see dog poop anywhere around here.

Nice, thanks! That's a good price! I'll keep those in mind next time I need those. Love Amazon.

For my backyard, I've been using a specific tool for about a decade now. It's a large plastic cylinder attached to the end of a handle, and the tip of the cylinder is pronged (to facilitate poo picking), and there are two little nubs on each side of the cylinder specifically for tying a plastic shopping bag to the top, non-pronged end of the cylinder. So I scoop up poo, tip it slightly, and it falls into the bag. Pretty neat design...I think some kid came up with it.

Guess I gotta shop for some other poo picker-upper. :)
