Yer not as old and decrepit as you think you are if you can remember a whole bunch of this trivia. You are, however, that danged old if you can remember some of this trivia but not what you had for supper last night.
Cigarette machines. Yes youngsters, there was a time when anybody (regardless of age) could walk up to a vending machine (located in most work places, gas stations, stores, etc.) insert just 45 cents (pre "sin" tax days) pull a handle attached to a rod and out would come a pack of your favorite smokes. How did we ever survive?
Or hospitals! Was in the hospital for better than a week in the mid 70's with a broken leg and remember asking for, and getting, a cigarette and ashtray in my room.
I'm late to the game, but have really enjoyed reading the thread! I remember when McDonald's only sold burgers, fries, sodas, and shakes...no McNuggets, McFlurries, or fancy coffee drinks.
I remember when phones were only at home and people were smarter and drove better. Thanks technology for making phones smarter and people stupid.
...and now they're getting bigger so folks will have to use both hands to text while driving. Ponder that...
I've been joking for a few years now that before long your phone will be as big as a tablet and you'll wear it around your neck like Flav-a-Flav
I remember that everyone had a smart friend, not a smart phone. When you couldn't remember something, you called that friend and they could help you with the answer... Not Google.
Good television shows. Dukes of Hazzard, CHiPs, Knight Rider, The Fall Guy, Airwolf, M*A*S*H, He-Man, Merry Melodies, Hawaii 5-0, Magnum PI, I Dream of Jeannie, The Honeymooners, Thunder Cats, GI Joe...the list goes on for days. Not to say we don't have a few good shows here and there (my best friend introduced me to The Walking Dead. One of the few really good shows on now). But I miss the old stuff!
