Phone Operators. You know, the lady who you reached by dialing 0 on your phone dial.

They used to be a integral part of using a phone. And, in the days before the 911 emergency number, it was the Operator who you dialed to summon the police, fire department, or ambulance (which, in many cases, had nothing to do with the fire department).

A real barber shop where you could get a flattop and they had Gentleman's magazines mixed in with the others ( "Hey lady, do you know your kid is lookin at a gentleman's magazine?") - think I got knocked upside the head for that one.

Barber shop I went to, .25¢ a cut, a woman walked in and the whole place went quiet till she left. Ladies did NOT go into barber shops.

Nice thing about no hair. No need for the barber shop. No shampoo cost. No worries about it going gray. No bad hair days either.
