Yea initially it was set to only show "5" I think I upped it to 50. You can also go there by clicking (or hovering your mouse if on Desktop/Laptop) on "Forums" once and a drop down will show up. There you can choose from the following options:
When on the Showcase page https://www.motoringalliance.com/showcase/ the Showcase drop-down menu changes as one moves the mouse down the listing. When scrolling down to Watched Content a new item, Watched Items, pops in and one cannot get to New Content on the list.
Before logging onto the site, I clicked on a pic to get a better view. It asked me to log in, which I did. Then after getting the info I wanted, I tried to post a reply. I had to log in again! Isn't there some way to remember initial log-ins? I'm not an efficient typist.
@oldbrokenwind there is a check box that keeps you logged in. It’s next to the login button. It says stay logged in, it’s easy to miss
You both are correct. Here is the interesting situation (which would have happened on the old site). We are using HTTPS (more secure). BUT... there is always that. If you clicked on an older pic etc.. it could be HTTP if its mapped in the old manner. Then its a different place (less-secure). Can you send me the link to the pic you clicked on. Also note I greatly over simplified the Secure/Non Secure thing. Your situation I believe has more to do with URL re-direction.
Here's the pic link --- https://www.motoringalliance.com/threads/oldbrokenwinds-phoenix.28728/ not really old, just a few months. When I logged in this AM, I checked the "Stay ---" box and it seems to be working. My original interpretation of this box was to keep me logged in when browser failed, or when I switched sites. I didn't expect it to be required to browse the MA site --- not friendly. But, what do I know about site construction --- nadda! Is there a time limit for staying logged in --- inactivity, or connection lost? Or will I stay connected "forever"?
@oldbrokenwind - Correct, technically you shouldn't as long as you are "active" on the site. I need to figure out the inactivity time etc. So far every pic on that page had kept me in https.. so I'm not 100% sure on this one.. yet.
Once upon a time, when I worked for a living, I was a database admin, among other functions. Sometimes, when investigating a complaint, I had to use someone else's computer --- one that didn't have the admin software on it. 'Course that was a long time ago --- late '90's. BTW, I'm currently using a Safari browser on a Mac --- latest version SW. I have another app that won't function correctly with Safari, and need Firefox to work --- per the app team.
DBA hey - you would be surprised how the tools have changed now... but in some way are still the same. =) Ultimately I think the issue is one of two things: 1) Time-out for logging you out for inactivity maybe to short. 2) When moving between images that are HTTP and HTTPS for some reason its not seeing it as the same site. I had seen this some on the test site.. that I was able to track down to #2.
@Dave.0 - still looking into this. Essentially I think you want a top level “button” like FORUMS, MEDIA, MEMBERS, etc up top. Is that correct?
For those of you who were online 1/24/18 @ 12.53 EST.. sorry, I was working on the site and you started seeing the forum root. My bad. Was working on getting some articles in and made a little mistake..
Two options: 1 - Click on the MA shield and then scroll down to Recent Threads. 2 - Last item on the drop-down from the Forums top menu (next to the shield). Recent Threads is all threads with recent activity, reverse chronological order, whether you've visited or posted in them or not. New Posts shows you threads with recent activity but only those you haven't visited since the last time someone posted there. I.e., If you click into a thread on the New Posts list, when you go back to New Posts that thread will have dropped from the list (unless there's been a new post by someone since you clicked to that thread).
What Steve said.. currently, however I am working on adding a button for “new post”.. many members have requested it and feel that clicking forums > New Post to be a little cumbersome. Should have up soon..
@gjxj - What else are you having challenges with? Would love the feedback... Also have you been to the “how do I” section?
Just noting that when editing one's Garage the mandatory field "MINI Chassis Code" offers no suitable choice for a classic Mini. Furthermore, it will not save any edits including photo updates until all of the mandatory fields are completed. I resorted to "1st Generation" for my '77, which looks a bit silly.
