Like the title says, I'm giving some serious thought to bringing back MINI of the month. For those that want to read about the demise and look over some of the ideas I've used to design the program below please see. http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/motoring-alliance-site-announcements/16957-mini-month-canceled-till-further-notice-5.html#axzz2eWwgVF9X

My thoughts on the revamped MINI of the Month

Each month a different version would be the focus. My thoughts on that breakdown.

    1st Gen Months
    Justa - Hardtop
    Convertible
    S - Hardtop

    2nd Gen Months
    Justa - Hardtop
    Convertible
    S - Hardtop
    Clubman
    Countryman
    Paceman
    Roadster
    Coupe

    Classic Months
    All Classics

This gives us one MINI version per month for a year.

    The details
    • No Prizes
    • Winner gets the [IMG] badge under their screen name.
    • Up to 10 possible entries per month both from nominations by self or others.
    • Under my discretion if the field is rather light I will select a few more to flesh out the offerings.
    • Promotion of your entry on M/A and other sites permitted.
    • Trash talking of entries not permitted.
    • All entries must have a M/A Garage
    • Winners will be displayed on the M/A main page and newsletter.

That's what I'm thinking. I really do want to hear your thoughts, ideas and comments. All ideas will be listened to. All comments, pro and con, will be taken into consideration.

Thanks, I look forward to your feedback.

So is each month mixed within the generation or does each month have a specific model within a specific generation?

Sounds like each month would be for a different model.. sounds good in theory but depending on participation there may be some months with only 2 or 3 cars in the running. Which is fine I guess not as many cars to beat... Nathan will know from the last time how many entries he was getting each month.

Each month mixed models of the "same generation" would be fair.

Or since the 2nd gens has so many models maybe a coupe/ roadster month, then a SUV oops Countryman / Paceman month then a clubman / hardtop month.

I vote we start with the Classics since they are the only real true original minis.

Now that there is more than just 1st Gens to look at, this may indeed thrive.

    yes, please

    Hi Nathan,
I really enjoyed the feature, much like I enjoy the M/A calendar. Healthy competition and an opportunity for folks to showcase their love for these addicting machines!

Your thoughts on providing focus to "version" is good.

There is plenty love/passion to spread around with the fanatical lot here. Bless us every one :beer

As far as the moderation/misbehavior goes - Perhaps a focused "extra" moderator is a useful way to help for this one thread type so things are clamped down fast?

Anyway, literally "everything" at M/A is so civilized compared to some other fanatical sites I rely on (such as mazdaspeedforums). You have made a great place for us and I truly believe the folks will step up.

    - Grateful Steve

To avoid any personality conflicts like before, I'd suggest just a voting thread. Don't give anyone the chance for the conversation to get out of hand. Post the pics and let the votes roll in. Unfortunately, the voting did get a little light.

A great gesture to suggest bringing back the monthly showcase Nathan. I support your concept and hope there will be tight limits placed on the number of times the entrants can advertise their respective rides.... Like once maybe!

Instead of making it a voting/popularity contest/poll why not just have the mods select a deserving car from the garages each month.
